How do you feel when you accomplish something you never have before when playing beach volleyball?
M: I feel so happy! Especially when it's something that I know is tough, and I've been trying to do it for a long time.
E:
Ecstatic! The thrill of accomplishing something I've been working on for a long time feels like a cool breeze brushing across my face on a hot summers day. I instantly feel excited and accomplished at the same time. It feels so good to finally know, "I've been working so hard on mastering that skill, and now I've finally conquered it!" In the last tournament I played in, my brother stepped in for my dad when he was out of town, and I had a blast! I was super excited when a player from the other team hit straight down and I got it up when it was just four inches off the ground.

Anything else you want to tell us about volleyball?
M: Volleyball is a great game for people of all ages and can be fun even if you are a beginner - plus you get to hang out on the beach!
E: Volleyball is a very fun sport to watch. It's so exciting to watch the enthusiasm the players are expressing on the court.

What's the latest thing you've accomplished?
M: The latest thing I have accomplished is getting fifth place in Junior Olympics for indoor volleyball. Our team (Surfside 12 Legends) got 5th place, which we proud of but wished we'd won. We all worked very hard even with the ups and downs of a long tournament. Throughout the week of JO's we played many great teams that took lots of hard work, dedication, and focus to win. It was very important that our whole team had a good attitude the whole time even if the game wasn't going very well.
E: The latest thing I've accomplished in beach volleyball is stronger passing and receiving hits and serves. I feel really confident now when I step out onto the court, which is how a volleyball player should feel.

What are your goals for this summer?
M: My goals for this summer are to keep working hard while playing beach volleyball and indoor volleyball. I would also like to pick up something new this summer. I chose to start surfing. I am already getting an early start by doing some surfing lessons and surfing camps. I am very excited to start to exceed my goal.
E: My goals for this summer are to consistently serve my serves deep into the court and improve on my hitting. Once I accomplish these goals, I will be stronger as a player and teammate. It's important to contribute as much as you can to your partner or team, because they deserve your all when you play on a team or with a partner.
